INSULATION

I have 9' cathedral ceilings that are very hard to gain access to through the attic. I am losing a lot of heat due to this I suppose. What is the best way to insulate this area? Blown in cellulose type? would a ceiling fan make a difference?

Blown in cellulose at least 3 lb/cu. ft. is almost always better than fiberglass.

I agree with Ron
and ceiling fans would make matters worse by creating even greater air movement.
Once you stop the air movement, you greatly reduce the heat loss. Fibreglass does not stop air, it just slows it down.
Dense packed cellulose stops it in it's tracks and has a better r-value than FG to boot.
