Toledo dies

I am in need of some 21/2" dies for a Toledo #2 stock.
They are part #84065. If you you have some from your grandfathers tool collection, I could sure use them.

In the words of the late

    Rodney Dangerfield:

"Wonderful place, Toledo. I got weighed there many times."

    Does...

... Reed or Ridgid make an equivalent that will fit? If it's an obsolete part number, you're pretty much limited to ebay, flea markets and garage sales.

    Square?

If the die is square I have welded up 1/4 in thick strapping the width of the die arround 2 inch sq dies.

    I Don't...

... understand - do you mean the "block" dies like Reed makes? Or the sets of 4 dies that fit into something like a Ridgid 65R? Either way, wouldn't you be left with a modified 2" die that cuts 11-1/2 threads per inch, when 2-1/2" pipe thread has 8 threads per inch?

    Again Weezbo

I may have a couple of Toledo #30 triple heads for 1/2, 3/4,1" and maybe the equal to a ridgid 65R but thats it, with not being able to find dies the tools life is about over. Not to mention there are better ways to cut a thread. Best Wishes J.Lockard

    Don't...

...dimiss ebay too quickly. I picked up (among other things), a 141, in the original Ridgid steel box, complete with the instructions. If it hadn't been for a light film of cutting oil on the die head, you'd never have known that it had been used at all. The paint wasn't even chipped. $385, plus shipping.

    I am not

dismissing E-Bay at all. Tony, just making the point that if I am going to buy a threader it will be a good one. I can not afford to screw around with junk. Best Wishes J.Lockard

    Here's Two...

    ... listed on ebay 3862408752 and 3860835435.

Need to make sure that dies are good ($$$ to replace), or the head is priced accordingly. Also, some old 4PJ's are sometimes (accidently or otherwise) listed as 141's. The old jobbies need a different set of dies for each pipe size. Even if they come with all sizes, and are good shape, it's still a pain to change them each time you thread a different size of pipe. Ridgid still makes the 141 and 161 models, so replacement dies should be available for a long time.
