When looking at a piping system, how can you tell if they used diverter tees or regular tees? My house is all black pipe and look like regular tees but according to Dans book it shouldnt work but does.

look closely
They should be differnt. Look on the return tees coming back from the rads., these will either have a red strip on them or a label thats states there are a monoflow tee. Some just have a band or groove on the return side.

Just one tee (the returning tee) of any branch going up from the main will normally be a diverter tee. Do the tees say B&G or Armstrong?0
