Conservation

Who better than those who design sell and install energy systems to come up with conservation measures or ideas to improve space heating. In this current bottom line mentality society we live in very little time is spent on conservation overall!
The heating and cooling industry has a far better track record when it comes to energy saving than the automobile industry or even utilities. Yesterday our already taxed electrical provider stated that they reached a new winter peak for energy consumption on Tuesday. They attributed it to improved industrial use, manufacturing use and get this (extensive Christmas decorating) No mention of conservation regarding these practices only mention of their need to build two new controversial coal fired plants.
A simple ride in the evening or at night shows overlite parking lots, retail businesses, church / building lighting and yes homes lit for asthetics not security or function.
I am old enough to remember the energy crunches of the 70s and 80s and know that the current excessive energy usage will result in shortages, possible blackouts and inflated energy bills.
I am not trying to be Mr. Scrooge but I would think moderation and more conservation promotion would be in order!
The plus side is that higher utility bills bring consumers to reputable contractors. Some of the best are represented here.
Food for thought!
