I have a one pipe steam system going through some of the pdf files of this site I see I could have one of two problems. One the water within my sight glass is a bit murky, where I then drain it and within two weeks its starts to get muddy again. Which leads to the regulator on the system. While adjusting the regulator the guage of it never moves but removing it with a little pressure put on it the needle does move so that part is not sticking. This leads me to believe that the regulator is possibly shot can anybody tell me how to check it and clean it if it is a clogg. I am going under the assumption that it must have some type of diaphram within it. This is a honeywell regulator on a weil mclaine system with no vissible tags on it indicating model of any sort.

Regulator?
If the "regulator" is a HW 404a it is the steam pressure control and indeed does have a diaphragm. It is normal for a well running steam system to have less than 1 psi when running. As to water the inside of steam pipes rust and the color ends up seen in the gauge glass. The really important thing to check is the low water cut off, flush it once a week to keep it working.0
