copper feed pipe

Copper is not supposed to be used for boiler piping, but what if all the water pipes in my house have been replaced by copper, including the cold-water feed to the old boiler? Will that lead to boiler corrosion?
Related question: my Hartford Loop was replaced by copper pipe three years ago (before I knew that wasn't a good idea). How urgent is it to rebuild it with black steel pipe? Am I looking at serious boiler corrosion within a few years?

Copper is fine for piping except in steam systems which you obviously have. Steam causes quicker expansion and contraction of the pipes since the heat comes on so much faster. It is very tough on soldered joints. Threaded iron pipe takes this kind of abuse for many decades. As for your cold water feed, it doesn't suddenly go from room temperature to steam in a few minutes so it really isn't subjected to the same stress. I wouldn't worry about it. I may be wrong being neither a pro nor a steam aficionado but if I am you'll get the straight dope pretty quick.0
