heat loss

Member Posts: 21
I have a question on heat loss if anybody can help. I live in southern NJ and I have that slant fin heat loss calc and I am trying to figure out a heat job with it. I am not sure what minimum indoor temp i want the boiler to keep. I notice in my calculations that if I raise my indoor temp to 70 degrees, the feet of element for the room is larger than the footage of exposed wall. Can somebody help?? Thanks

You need more btus in the room so its adding more baseboard. If the outside walls are filled with baseboard, you can put some on inside walls.
As for the minimum indoor temp, 70 is good. I would say anywere from 68 to 72 degrees.

Lineal foot problems
When you run into that problem, think about panel radiators. They'll deliver gobs more heat per lineal foot than baseboard. I like Radson and Buderus. You might have to rethink your piping and control strategy but the time, effort and material expense is worth it. A properly operating panel rad system is the next best thing to infloor. Try it - you'll like it!!0
