Size to heatloss or existing radiation ?

You do a heatloss for a job and get 60,000 btuh. You determine the existing radiation can deliver 80,000 btuh.
Do you buy an 80,000 or 60,000 boiler and why ?

    Steam or hot water?

Steam · 80 output, you need to match the rads.

Hot Water · 60 output, you run at cooler temps and save $$$.

  • Why do you match the radiation on steam as opposed to hot water where you match the heatloss ?

  • this is for a hot water job by the way.
