An update and a thank you to the wall

Last spring I posted a message about how using the information on the wall and in Dan's books I restored my one pipe steam system and reduced my gas bill 75%. Here is an update. Over the summer we pulled out all the radiators (all early Capitol Radiators, I know this thanks To Dan's EDR book) flushed out about 80 years of sludge in the bottom of them, had them sandblasted and refinished. All the valves were removed and rebuilt, which surprisingly just involved new packing (we were ready to replace if necessary) and polished. After reinstalling these wonderful things
we also added an additional vent to the longest steam line furthethest from the boiler there are now 5 vents instead of the original 4. Now the best part even with the 33% increase in natural gas prices here (Northwest lower Michigan on the Lake Michigan shoreline) Our December gas bill was $50.05. We are using an average of 45% less gas than we did last year and we are warm and comfy. So to all those on the wall and especially Dan, thank you again for all your knowledge.

P.S. I put a brick in the wall and ask that all you other homeowners out there who use the wall frequently do the same.
