Venting steam base boards (2 pipe)

in baseboard, John, and the baseboard can condense steam very quickly. I'd be inclined to use a slow vent on these. My two cents.
Retired and loving it.

Venting steam base boards (2 pipe) cast iron baserays

    hello again.

many thanks for all the help.

I bought all new vents from a "proffesional" supply house (not a hardware store) unfortunatly they are the same vents that home depot carries (el cheapo) this was the only choice!, These cheap vents have been in service for not quite 10 days an im already having trouble Esp on my baseboards, the only other choice I have in a vent from another source is vent- rite I have used them before but they are not much better than what I have now and expensive.

so Im going to order gorton valves for the entire house including the mains (im using a vent rite 75 at the moment)

Since the gorton valves are not adjustable(except perhaps with a dremel tool *G*) my question is what size vents should I use for the baseboards ( BTW cant find maid o mist or hoffman valves locally either)

my question is what criteria should I use for venting the baseboards?

do I size vents based on length of unit or location off my main or just vent fast since there all long??

my 2 longest base boards, one is at the end of the main and is 15' long the other unit is the first off the main and 16' long with a pretty long horizontal run.

my other baseboards are 7' 4' and 10' and those horizotal runs are off the middle area of the main.

Im solid with what size vents I need for the onr pipe rads upstairs but not sure on what I should use for the first floor baseboards.

My thought is to vent as fast as poss since steam has to push the condesate a log way out unlike a rad.

I was thinking a size #C for the 15' unit off the end of the main then #6s for the other 16' close to the main, the 7' in the den, and 10 ' in kitchen

and a #4 for the four footer off the middle of main but very close to thermostat.

sorry to be long winded but Im not sure and the gorton valve are fixed.
    any input will be welcome.

    have a great day "John"

    I agree

try a Gorton #5 on the big one, and #4 on the smaller ones.
