Cycle Length

Is there a magic amount of cycle time for a certain size system, at a certain btu/hr. with certain temp of water? I'm just curious...is it different vastly different for gravity conversions, baseboard, in-floor, etc.? Is there even a nice range to shoot for at say 20 degrees F. or how much does it vary with different outside temps? Just curious...am I asking a dumb or unanswerable question?

Betz,
From what I understand, a perfectly designed system will not turn off when the outside ambient is at its load design! So, if you are designing @ 20 degrees when it is 20 degrees out that bad boy should run all day! As far as design temps that is all up to you! I have buderus radiator panels and radiant in my home! When I designed this system I used larger radiator panels so I could use lower water temps. and use a condensing boiler.
Hope this helps...
By the way, are you from the Philly area?

Ohhh ok
well there aren't many around with a last name like mine, which "Betz" is only a part of. By the way, thanks for the explanation, it was a very good one. Well I have quite a different system I won't get into, but I'm just tinkering with it to see what's most efficient for me. Good info.0
