New Viessmann products?

There was a discussion on the Wall about Viessmann comming out with a lower priced Vitorond model to compete with Buderus's G115 series that would use a standard 3rd party oil burner. Any new news on this?

    It's out there

Viessmann had it in their booth at ISH. Just a basic boiler with swing out door and standard Honeywell A-stat control. It had a Beckett of some kind on it. Don't remember the model.

It was a good looking piece. Typical Viessmann

    Sorry boys

Sorry boys, I saw one of the 100's yesterday, 12/8/04. It was up and running. I was there to check it for code and set up burner. It came straight from Germany. The owner is from Germany and is friends with a rep. They had a Plumber from Germany pipe it up. Riello burner, tiger loop, constaint circulation, outdoor reset. I wish that I had more time to spend with the system. It is installed in an old Maine farm house. It didn't want to run for more than a minite and a half at a time, with what seemed like 8-10 mins. between cycles. Real hard to set up a burner that way. I'm not sure if I like the way it is plumbed up. I had all ready worked 14 hours and had one more call to go. Needless to say but I wasn't at my best. Why constant circulation? I think it is a monoflow system with Radiator valves. I feel like a Ford mechanic, working on a Rolls Royce.

    Viessmann

We've used a few Vitorond's but they were the slightly older version with the Riello burners.Very nice boiler, not as high end as the Vitola but very comperable with Buderus.

Viessmann now has a high quality boiler to fit in any budget.

The only down side is that its not ready to go with Viessmann add on controls like a Buderus G115 could be. And what I mean by that is its not plug n' work with a Viessmann control.

    I'm disappointed.............

that Viessmann would lower themselves to compete with that blue boiler line. What's next, gas fired water heaters? I don't see the point.

There was an error rendering this rich post.

Why shouldn't they offer a full line? Everyone deserves a Viessmann. They offer a gas fired unit just sold in the US or North America to stay competitive.

  • wrong model

The Vitorond 100 will be offered here in the USA with a NX Beckett Burner and a standard L8148 Honeywell Aquastat, standard NPT taps. ipe it just like a WeilMcLain, Crown, Burnham etc etc.

Available now in limited quantities, more after the first of the year.

    I felt

The same way at first Jeff, but the more I think about it why not? I know where your comming from. The Viessmann name has always meant quality and their quality equipment will still be there.I questioned their reasons for stooping to a lower level, but lets face it not everyone can afford to drive a BMW or afford a Vitola

It does allow me to stay with one brand of heating equipment to fit any budget. In the past I had to use other brands to come into budget on jobs, now I don't.

I don't see us installing that model on any radiant jobs but there are allot of basic baseboard or hydro air jobs where it will fit in nicely.

If there is a good chance of upgrading or small areas of radiant the Vitorond 200 is a good choice for budget jobs.

    sorta like

The ECV or ECD gas-fired series. (Vitogas 50) Only made for the US market and not designed to accept the Vitotronic controls, excepting the HK-1. Only a TT connection. Of course outdoor rest should be added, but some contractors (and codes) see the fuel saving controls as too costly. This boiler is designed for entry level with no frills. Now Viessmann has a good, better, best oil-fired product.

    Paul,

You peeked my curiosity, what local jurisdiction(s) outlaw outdoor reset?

    Outdoor reset

Hi Steve, I meant require the controls, not forbid them. The Seattle boiler code requires outdoor reset for all new commercial boilers over 400K input. It's a start.

    The Vitogas 50

which I guess is only offered in Canada, seems more lke a step backwards to me. I see wanting to move down vertically in the price market but not by introducing an 80% efficent gas boiler. That's almost as bad as Viessmann producing a furnace! The Vitorond with a Beckett burner sounds like a better move if it stays over 85% efficent. Offering some form of boiler controls (even a Tekmar in an orange case) should be on their to do list.
