STEAM BOILER ON/OFF

Just installed a new Burnham boiler PI gas,it is surging causing the LWCO to go on and off every 2 weeks when the water level drops in the boiler. The auto feeder wants to come on but it bounces in the guage glass causing it to come on and off 6 times of so before allowing the refill process to begin. I have the feeder set on 4 gallons 30 seconds delay. The water was very very dirty when I returned to the customers house. I've done my share of steam boilers but this got me crazy! Any opinions may help solve this nitemare

    2 weeks?

I guess I don't have a guess on why a 2 week interval for the problem. As to the surge, Did you pipe the near boiler piping exactly or better per the install instructions? If you did is the return pitch enough not to hold water? Plenty of working main vents? Is the input correct. If all this is correct I think you still have a oil film you need to get out of the boiler, I would go the TSP cleaning program making sure the skim tapping is full size and you have 4 hours or so to do the job. After the chem cleaner the refill and skim to clean water.

    I had the same Prob

Two brand new Burnham Independance4. You have to clean completly, Skim hot and then cold. You have to use the "L" tapping that Burnham says is for skimming. Its a pain to get to but it does make a difference. My boilers run quiet and steady, no bounce in the glass.

Out one cup per 100,000 BTU's

of TSP in that thing. Bring to a near boil.

    Drain and rinse.

    Problem solved.
