Anode rods

Good Morning,
I just bought a home with a beautiful Buderus G115 and a LT160 indirect. It is also equipped with a Logomatic control, by far the best heating plant I will ever own. My question is, how often should I change the anode rod in the indirect.?????
Thanks in advance,
Bill Hobbie

    anode rod

If there is an electronic anode rod, there should be a green light on. If the red light goes on, its time to change the anode.

    Buderus instructions

The instructions for my Buderus indirect say to inspect the rod (non-electric) every two years. They do not say when to replace it.

    Anode

Pull the anode rod every two years. Note the length. If it looks eaten up or the length is too short. Replace. Monitoring the rod will give you a good idea of it's service life.
  • Wild Bill,

    Check this out: http://www.waterheaterrescue.com/TheTank.html

The buderus tanks come with a HEFTY anode rod. They don't want any problems here in NA. yet they do happen. As with any tank, a yearly inspection is manditory yet almost NEVER done. (FACT)
Do this and save a tank. Use a wire brush on the rod if it is smoothe anywhere. Replace with Buderus rod if near wire is apparent.

I've had to change out a horizontal tank with a G115 above. NOT FUN!!!
    Pre propper planning prevents,,,,,,,,

    Look at your rod.
