zone valve end switch /circ.pump relay????
Had to post went to a call today as a matter of fact i even bid on the job a reference to boot and as usually was way under bid by 1/3 the total job price .The complaint was no heat in a attic hydro air unit she was air bound .As i started to set up my hose and stuff i noticed the 3 circ on the supply all 3/4 pipe with zone valves on the out let of the pump 1 zone valve for each pump all wired with bx going to a junction box after by bucket ran clear i turned the boiler back on as i looked around i noticed no circ relays to be found or 24 v tranny .I smiled to myself and opened the junction box and found the circ pumps where engerenized through the end switch of the zone valves and the zone valve motors where made through the air handlers tranny.I have never seen any one do some thing so stupid is it me or what the aquastat 's tt terminals are jumped and the oil relays tt is jumped also the boiler is always at 180 pretty funny huh? I know i couldn,t stop smiling and better yet the 1 1/2 supply pipe feeding the circ had a 1 1/2 by 1 1/4 tee with a 2 foot piece of steel pipe screwed into a taco air scoop with a plug in the other end and a air vent in the top and expansion tank hunging off it .Is it me is it time for me to never bid again when such amazing competters are out there .Even funny it's a slant fin hw oil fired unit rated i believe at about 280 btu with only 3 3/4 inch zones feeding 3 hydre air unit this home is large i believe it's about 3000 sq.ft and about 100 years old old windows no strom windows .Am i missing something did these guys from nyc china town know some thing i don't .The ho didn't even want me there he though i would harbor bad feeling i said no and we where to busy to do the job any way and was quick to say no one else had noticed any thing wrong ps no insepections on heatiing but what get me is i did a heat lose and came up with alot more then 40,000 btus for each floor am i wrong i guess you can bring them to water but you can,t make them drink peace clammyR.A.
