Infrared Thermometers-Great Tech Tool

I couldn't diagnose without my trusty InfraRed Thermometer(non-contact). I've had my first IRT for 3 years and just bought another UEI. Found this econonmy model on the net and would highly recommend this cool tool.
Used it several times last week to balance systems and to "prove" a temperature to owners' who can visibly see the actual surface temps. Most units under $250.00 can sense 3-5ft from the "gun" with a laser pointer sight.

Just Got Mine Last Night

From Amazon.com. It's a Raytek MT4, and was about $77. It has a "laser" (for you Austin Powers fans) which is helpful for aiming.

I'm a homeowner, and bought it to find cold spots where air is infiltrating or exiting our old house so I can seal them.

My wife has declared she will also be using it for cooking. Not a problem, since I am the beneficiary of her gourmet endeavors!

This one is backlit, and seems idiot proof. My 2-1/2 year old son also likes running around trying to put his finger on the red spot from the laser, which also makes it great for child care!
