If I have your typical 2 story house with 240,000 btu boiler and typical cast rads, nowing i must move 24 gpm at a delta t of 20.what is the easyest way other than pressure readings to know what my pump head would be?Is there a general rule of thumb for these old cast rads?

The radiators themselves are so close to zero that it's not worth calculating.
If this is a gravity conversion system HUGE MAIN PIPES (frequently two pairs), the piping head loss isn't worth calculating either.
While your boiler may be rated at 240,000 btu, the actual loss is almost certain to be significantly less--likely less than half.0 -
I doubt your head
is over 4 feet with that setup.
