Penetrating Oil For Radiator Fittings?

Trying to get an old corroded vent out, I instinctively went for the Liquid Wrench. It quickly occured to me that this might not be the best idea. The heat could cause a problem I would imagine.

What penetrating oil do you use, and how long should you wait before heating the radiator back up?

Thanks again, I bet you guys get sick of the rookie questions that flood the sight in December, especialy since most of these issues should have been dealt with before the heating season. (First year in the house, I'll learn for next year.)

    a rookie's reply

I'd recommend PB-Blaster - you can find it at auto parts stores.

I imagine you'd want to keep any penetrant out of the system, so a careful cleanup should follow.

I am only a homeowner, so that's all this reply is worth.

    Peace

    another vote for BP Blaster

Another homeowner's response, but based on a lot of experience trying to free rusted bolts, I agree that PB Blaster is excellent -far better than Liquid Wrench or WD-40.
