hi,
I recently got a w/m ultra 155 and here is a preliminary drawing i made of how the piping will go on a plywood board next to the boiler. there are a couple pieces missing from the drawing like the purge valve to the left of the expansion tank... but here's the thing. i have the expansion tank outside the primary loop. is that acceptable? if i use copper pipe in the primary loop, will i need 1 1/2" pipe? or will 1 1/4 do? there are two zones with zone valves that use 3/4" pipe. that have some baseboard and radiators in this two story house. i have not measured the distance of the runs yet. but i can say off the top of my head that zone 1 for the downstairs has 36 feet of baseboard and two in wall radiators for a kitchen and bathroom. the upstairs just has 4 3' wide 28" high (or so) radiators circa 1904. how do i size the pump for those two zones? I saw dan yesterday and he said, "follow the instructions in the boiler manual so they don't walk away from you." but i want to get the most of "pumping away" and i want to make sure everything is sized right and easily expandable to radiant heat which i plan to eventually convert to.
