Pump adjusting??

Hi, just got the radiant floor up and running today and in the process of fine tuning. The pump and Manifold etc. are in the basement dirrectly below the heated floor. This is all about 17 ft. away from the boiler. The heat is temporarily mixed down (3 way mix valve) to 95 degrees until my one month old Maxxon Therma Floor is fully cured. So the Astro 30B pump is pulling aprox. 17 ft in 3/4" pipe to the manifold and going into two 200' loops of 1/2" pex. The manifold flo gauges are set between 1/4 and 1/2 GPM. The Astro pump motor feels really hot. Does the pump itself need to be throttled back with that screw knob because it is too powerful for the GPM setting of the manifold?? Thanks Jim
