How to find the Right Professional

I cannot tell you HOW happy my husband and I are to find this website. We live in a home built in the mid 1880s - victorian, four floors, and last year we replaced the furnance thinking that was the problem with the heat. OH NO, now we are learning about steam heat. Basically we get no heat in the back part of the house, on all floors. This is well beyond our ken. We are looking for a KNOWLEDGEABLE professional - someone that can problem solve, as Dan says, step by step. (I think it is the traps - our system has what I call normal radiators, and then these boxes) - But I do not know. We have logged on the professionals within 45 miles of Baltimore Maryland. But what questions do we ask to find out if they know what they are doing. Do we call old apartment houses and see who they use. How could we use our home as a teaching center and get good solid advice. The house is BLEEDING money and still not warm, and we just want good guidance in finding the right person to help. I have more hope than before, just having found this site. Thanks

If you're near Baltimore
You can do no better than Frank (Steamhead) Wilsey. If you can get your project on his schedule you will have one of the very best working on your system. I think he's listed on Find A Professional to the left.
Frank is the type of guy that will take the time to figure your system out piece by piece. When he's completed his work I'm sure it will be running as smoothly and efficiently as possible.0 -
