Hi, thanks to this great website i was able to tell the heating mech what was the problem to speed up the check up on my boiler problem. well the automatic water feeder kept coming on every five minutes with no leaks on the floor but in one of the cast iron sections inside and was burning up before it could reach the floor. It is a 6 yr old pennco system and they want to warranty the part but no heating service guy wants to take the job unless i install a new boiler what should i do ?.I know if i find some one to put in an all new bar i would save some money instead of buying a all new boiler Please help? thanks, D.Stewart

Leaker
What part do they want to warranty...the cast iron block of sections??? I am assuming this is a steam boiler. Please do yourself a favor, if the water feeder is comming on every 5 minutes, you could have a serious leak that could lead to disaster, particulary if the boiler goes dry and continues to fire. DO NOT ADD WATER TO THE UNIT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES IF THIS HAPPENS.
I would conact a Penco distributor and ask them specific warranty status on your boiler (provide them with model and serial number). Get yourself a couple of estimates and proceed accordingly, please use caution.
Good luck,

Tell them T&M
I would have the local boiler guys give you a T&M rate for this type of work, plan on 16 hours,( 2 guys 1 day) tell them if something else breaks during split or install that it's worth a try anyway. Once you find the rate and multiply and figure no warranty on the repair you will know if it's worth it to you to try the fix. Section replacement is not a sure thing, lots can go wrong and sometimes does, or maybe it will be done in 4 hours, all the parts and sheet metal put back on just like the factory and the new section not leaking. You probably now know the cost of a new boiler so it's down to an economic decision.0 -
Hi and thank you for your reply.I called pennco and they are sending somebody over to see how many sections are cracked leaking and they are going to give me credit toward a hole new section. They want to give me a hole boiler and credit toward that but all my other parts are only 6 years old and are working fine so if they just give me the hole bar then it is like getting a new boiler anyway i think but i still have to pay for the install with was quoted at $1300.00 so far so what do you think does it sound good or.Thanks,D.Stewart0
