Picture of beautifully clean Steam Weil-McClain LGB4 install

the idiot at the supply house thought he'd do me a favor and get schedule 80 (without asking first) "because it's for steam".

I then told him it only operated at 10 ounces of pressure and below and all he could say was "huh?"

Note double 4 inch drop header utilized due to low hanging reverse flow 6 inch header; custom electrical enclosures; motor starters for boiler feed pumps; use of conduit for all electrics. Also exclusive use of American made valves, pipes and fittings. All threaded pipe, no welding.

Thanks, it was a lot of hard work. 410,000 btu I believe. Here's another picture of the custom electric enclosure, clear plastic industrial, NEMA rated. To show off the various relays. Also shows the duplex boiler feed pumps. Originally it was just one, but we added another, and they rotate their operation so they wear evenly, plus if one fails, the other kicks on after 16 seconds.

And, every connection is on the room-side of the unit

(except the steam output and pressure relief valve). So there is absolutely never any need to get to the "dark" (wall) side of the unit to service anything, though I left ample room.

Yes, it was installed so servicing could be done with ease, plus we installed a floor drain right next to the unit (in the concrete!) so it can be blown down weekly without creating a mess.

    That's great work!

Between the relays, electrical work, the pump redundancy, and the beautiful steam pipe work, you deserve a beer or two tonight!

Should give them years of reliable service!

    Thanks, I appreciate it

What does Dan H. say in one of his books? You can have it good; have it slow; and have it expensive; pick any two.
