Word around the campfire here is that The Boss is wooing your boy to pinstripes. I wonder if he's going to pack his little person in his suitcase. Nobody except the boss wants him here. Have you heard anything up north??? Is Boston trying to dump him off?

Right after the world series, Pedro made the comment in a press conference that if he leaves the Red Sox, it will be because the Red Sox weren't trying hard enough to keep him. I think that Boston put up with his ego for long enough, and the feeling is that now that they have won a world series, and Pedro is no longer the ace of the squad, his demands will no longer be met.

People are more concerned about re-signing Jason Varitek than keeping Pedro.

... Pedro wants to drive up his salary from the Red Sox by meeting Steinbrenner. And that Steinbrenner is trying to drive down the trade cost of aquiring Randy Johnson by showing that there are other top pitchers available besides Johnson.
