How and when is it tested?

It should be tested anytime the burner is cleaned and adjusted, and before and after a routine maintanence. It is done with a draft gauge inserted into the smoke pipe/vent, before the draft stabilizer and at least six inches from the breech of the boiler and over the fire, through the small hole in the inspection door of the chamber. the readings are measured in inches of water column.
