    It depends....

    on NUMEROUS factors.

Do you have a large fixed volume to fill, like an olympic swimming ppol sized bath tub?

Do you have a limited ampearage availability?

Can you live with only one person using hot water at any given moment?

Your answers will probably generate more questions...

I don't have a olympic pool sized bathtub, I would have to have the wiring done for either anyway, I would like to be able to enjoy hot water at different places at the same time

With electric tankless, you can often put one at each sink (or room)for near instant hot water and less wasted water waiting for it to get warm.

In general, an electric tank heater is the worst way to heat water.

    Consider...

some of the small circulation return systems that go beneath your lavaltory. Grundfos COmfort series comes to mind. Hot water will be instantly avaiable using a single source water heater. Is this what you're looking for?

    Not sexy

Although not hi tech the drain waste heat recovery idea works great for the electric water heater user. This part is of course bet installed in a new house as headroom and location are important. No moving parts though.
