Darin and I started at 7:30 and finished at 1:00 am.
We replaced an old Utica with a Munchkin T80.
VERY, VERY smart HO that did his homework AND knows how to calculate energy savings. In fact, he made a spreadsheet to calculate Therms vs. Heating Degree Days!
I sent him to look at a Munchkin 140m we installed a year ago that was in his area. He was impressed with our work, and he gave those folks a copy of his spreadsheet program.
The Munchkin 140m with the Vision 1 control reduced their therm consumption by over 37%! BTW, this home is heated with baseboard, so those arguments about modulation and reset not working with "high temp" systems ring quite hollow when we have numbers to back it up.
Tonight we fired up the T80 and the outdoor temp was 37 degrees. The boiler NEVER went to high fire, and the supply temp was hovering around 143 degrees. When in low fire, as it was the entire time, the T80 is silent.(It is silent in high fire as well) If it were not for the flame indicator, you could not tell the unit was actually on fire. **Note to HTP** Just make the 80m with the same components as the T80.
Darin has all the pics. I made the mistake of drinking a cup of coffee at 11:00 pm, and now I can't sleep.
Gotta' love cold weather change-outs!
