Need help with boiler. Pictures

Please have a look at these photos and tell me if this boiler is piped correctly.
Also... my boiler keeps flooding, I had a guy in today to look at it and he turned the water back on and said it was fine.
I had previously turned the water supply off and the boiler now does not flood so the water feeder must be leaking.
After a heating cycle I checked it and it was flooded again!
I turned the water off again and drained the excess water out.
My question... can I run the boiler with the water supply off and manually fill it until I can find someone to fix this properly?
Finding someone around here seems to be impossible, no one knows anything about these boilers. I am not all that confident in the installer because he has told me things like the pipes don't need insulation and its ok if I get water hammer. (I insulated the pipes anyway.
Thanks for any help.

Yes you can keep the water shut off and fill it manually when needed. That is the way these are typically set up (the auto fill is a luxury item, like power windows in a car...) Just make sure to keep an eye on it until you know it's consumption rate well enough, and make sure the low water cut off is working. Looking in the find a professional link on this site, to find a competent technition.. And yes, it sounds like the water feed is busted...0
