I just found a old Dube, Garbage burner hot water heater in my grandmothers basement and was wondering if anyone has any info on these. I was going to throw it out till I started dusting it off and figured out what it was. I would like to know if anyone collects them or if it has any kind of history. This is the info I have frome the unit.

    Don't toss it!

Hello: I'm the resident water heater fanatic. I do have literature on your heater but it's at an old water heater exhibit we're setting up. As I remember, it was gas fired. It would dry out any garbage enough to burn and add heat to water in tubes running under and over the fire. I like the idea of utilizing the energy in trash and getting (mostly) rid of the trash at the same time. Making it work cleanly and efficiently might have been tough though.

So, how do we get that heater to Monterey California? ;~)

    Larry,

The water heater is in White Pigeon, Mi. I'm not sure how we would get it to you. I'm not even sure how to get it out of the basement as it is heavy!!! I wish I could find more info on it.
    Thank you for your help,
    Cristal

    info

Hello: I found some info on #4. Fun stuff! Is it what you were looking for?

    Yours, Larry

ps. This one is a coal burner and weighs 950 pounds!
pps. It looks like the top, base and doors are all cast iron so should unbolt from the body. That may make it less difficult to get out of the basement.
