Digital Thermostat for HotWater Radiator Gone Mad

Novice
Novice Member Posts: 3
It seems my gas boiler that heats my hot water radiator system will switch On when the digital thermostat indicates a tempature drop. Problem is it will not turn OFF when the temperature rises. Last night I was awakend by loud knocking. Went down to the boiler and enmergency water valve was virtually gushing water. Noticed some cold some hot radiators. I think the emergenbcy valve burned off super heated/pressurized water. IS this as simple as replacing igital thermostat?

    It May Not...

.. be the thermostat. It may be a defective gas valve or control. What you describe could be very dangerous.

You should turn the power switch off and then call your service contractor or Utility company first thing tomorrow morning.

    \"it's the thermostat\"

Whenever their heating system acts up, newbies tend to say "It's the thermostat", because it it the only thing they are familiar with. It is not the thermostat. You have possibly a major problem. Call someone ASAP.

    thanks

i've already turned off the main power and called a service company. I did just have the pilot adjusted and the pilot cleaned as it was clogged with crestose. Any ideas if its related or what it mightbe.

I do not think the pilot

is the problem nor the T-stat. From what you have said "some rads hot some rads cold with water gushing out of the relief" I would get a servicer in to review the system. Best wishes J.Lockard
