how low should a honeywell 404 be set?
If the seting screw is turned all the way off its spring
tention in order to get the psi down will the system still fire on the next call for heat? how does one set these things

The adjustment screw will only
go so far before lifting off the case and probably allow the spring to jump out of its cage!
Even when the screw is as loose as possible, there is still too much tension on the trip lever!
Unless you are a pro, I advise against doing what we do. We actually bend (extend) the finger tab that contacts the micro switch, ever so slightly so that the face scale at fully lowered setting will not allow a "back-on" response - you actually have to raise the index tab a hair above the zero end to be certain it will aur=tomatically reset. Of course the differential is set to the lowest setting, one.
We have a source that sells vaporstats at around 110-dollars. We buy a case at a time. But if we are in the field, we will get them to function like a hair trigger.
