Space between the diverter and regular tees

I am going to install a kickspace heater off the main heating pipe. The heater is about a foot above the main pipe. I plan to use a regular tee (3/4"x1/2") at the feed side and a diverter tee (3/4"x1/2") at the return side. My question now is how much space between the two tees should I reserve. From the heating Q&A on this website, I understand I should keep a space of 6" to 12" if I use TWO diverter tees. What if I just use one diverter tee? Do I still need the same space? Due to the working space, it would be more difficult for me to have the two tees separated by more than 4". Is it O.K. or not acceptable?

    Diverter tee's

If you use a diverter tee and a regular tee you will need to keep them 18" apart. EJW

At 4", you will probably need two diverter tees.
