Concrete slab with hydronic, cushioning?

We are building a new house and plan to use a concrete slab with hydronic in floor heating. We are planning to cover the slab with engineered hardwood flooring, but have been told the resulting floor will be very "hard" with no shock absorbsion. Is there someting we can use between the flooring and the concrete to make it a little easier on feet and legs without compromising the heat transfer from the concrete?

try cork
We used this as the top layer of a lite plate sandwich system. Works OK so far, although it is a bit more insulative than hardwood. Nicely resiliant.
