insulation for 2 pipe steam system

I have a 400,000 btu steam 2 pipe system. removed all the asbestos insulation from exposed pipe in basement. what should I inuslate it with? 1 1/2" thick or thicker? should I insulate the exposed returns? should I inuslate the couplers and the valves? thnks

The 1.5" fiberglass works nicely. Insulate everything you can get to that is above the water line, including the unions, 90s, 45s, and anything else. I haven't insulated my wet returns at all (above the water line) since I like little heat in the basement.0
