RICHARDSON BALL CHECK ELLBOW

in THE MAIN WALL
I RAN INTO A VACUUM STEAM SYSTEM THAT HAD RICHARDSON BALL CHECK ELBOWS ON THE RADIATOR RETURNS. I HAVE TO REPLACE ON ONE THESE RICHARDSON ELBOWS. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

    Use

    a thermostatic radiator trap.

    Is it possible Dan

    to just change the balls? I had one where a few of the rads had the balls missing as the painters removed the radiators. I had them measured and my machine shop buddy ordered me a bag. Is that considered o.k. if the ell fittings are in good shape??? Should I just have added the rad traps instead?
