a cast iron boiler to pulse when it fires. Have 4 zone apt building, when the boiler fires the pressure guage jumps and you can here popping sound. Once the high limit is reached(180F) the noise stops. Even if zone(s) are still calling. Any ideas?

Anybody
out there? HELP!!0 -
Sounds like lime or dirt in the Sections
They cause hot spots because they insulate the inside of the heat exchanger. The water then turns into steam bubbles at pockets causing the guage to bounce. Also could be poor water flow through the boiler.

thanks
for the help. I know flow maybe an issue, but it has been running this way for 30 years. My guess is lime/dirt in the sections. Now, do you have a solution? Tried flushing through the boiler drain, no luck. What do you suggest?0 -
Talk to George at Rhomar and the Boiler Manufacturer
they should be able to help you with cleaners, etc.
