I'm working on a lochinvar boiler for a loop for heat pumps. and from what i can find out once a year it has to have its ignition control replaced usually after snow or rain it is installed on a roof top. went today with new control would not reset replaced igniter too. check every thing i could think of gas pressure cleaned burners etc. looks like flame is not really touching hot surface ignitor, how much should it be?? today after spending two hours in a down pour it just started up. any ideas? going back in morning to do some more testing. thanks for any help. tim

    If all else fails

Lochinvar does have some good tech support folks on the 800 number. Once you get through :) You might get their input. Check for clean and tight wire connections, everywhere!

Lots of times, these days, those controls have to be replaced with OEM. Off the shelf modules are not always going to work, or work properly. Same with gas valves.

i replaced the parts with oem as they stated and it always is flame failure that the control goes off on this is my first trip to this job but due to the down pour left after it fired i haven't put any of the old controls back in yet so. the manager stated at least 7 controls and it always fired after up after replacing control until today very weird but i hope i get to the bottom of it. tim

    7 controls, really

sounds like you need to get to the bottom of this. Treat the problem, not the symptom! It should not be eating parts like that, something else is going on.

It's not connected to 240V is it? Just kidding, sort of.

    Where there is a will...

Lochinvar, and others, do make new boilers, if they have grown weary of the inconvience :)

It's just money, they'll find more of it!

    Lochinvar

model#? Is this set up for low temperature system? is this on the roof or protected by a penthouse? IS the wind blowing heavy during the rain & snow storms?

    Check the electrical connections

I had a simular problem with a unit in a pool area, after changing parts and much troubleshooting I spoke with Tech support, In my case it turned out to be the energy managment low voltage connections (which was not being used so it had a factory jumper installed) the screws were not tightened and corrosion was forming causing a voltage drop which acted like a bad control. Tighten All connection on the unit. hope that helps :-)
