I just got my copy of Linhardts's Field Guide to Steam Heating from Dan today. Awesome, great quality leather zippered cover, pages water and dirt proof, great drawings, simple to read and locate what you need in the field and understand, nice reference section and ladder type troubleshooting diagrams for those of us who are old and forget where we were when the cell phone interupted us.. I'm going to show it to my 17 fellow techs and suggest they all get one.

    I agree

I'm glad you posted this Dana. I have all of Dan's books including his efforts in the excellent Frank Gerrety book on one pipe steam and I find I use the new L. H. book the most now to recheck something or to show a tech pictures so he can tell me what he saw in the field, like a mug shot book or so I've heard. The only problem I have with the book is getting it back from the better techs when I make the mistake of letting go of it. We don't do steam every day so clear communication is really important. LAOSH is IMHO the best book to really learn about steam theory but the LH is the best field reference I have seen so far.

    thanks guys

Thanks for the kind words. It is nice to know that the field guide is helping solve some problems. It was designed to be "tech friendly".

Nothing can compare to Dan's classic, the book that opened my mind's eye to steam heating.

    Best regards, Patrick Linhardt
