Finding a professional in Jacksonville, FL area

Back to my daughter's 40 year old gun fired warm air oil furnace-----

I would like to have my daughter's furnace tested by a professional oil technician. For draft, for CO2, for smoke, primary air setting etc. etc.

I used to do it years ago, although only occasionally. Could do it myself still today with a little refreshing from my old 2 inch thick NOFI tech manual. I could relocate the tech manual, but I no longer have access to any test equipment. Don't think you can rent that kind of stuff. Or can you?

I don't mind paying for a professional to do it. (or more likely my daughter paying---she makes more than I do)---

Trouble is I checked using her area zip code for the "search for a professional" on this site---and came up nada. Not within 100 miles. Nada.

Is that a mistake? Nobody even within 100 miles of the Jacksonville area servicing oil furnaces could do a proper test and adjustment of her furnace? There are no pros in Jacksonville?

    All Pros Bulletin

    To all pros out there:

How can we homeowners find you if you don't identify yourselves?

I've wasted loads of dollars on hacks, I'd much rather pay for knowledge.

    Hum....

Much to my suprise there is a fair amount of Oil fired equipment in Florida but all that I have seen is commercial/industrial (DHW in hotels and big steam generating plants) so I would try a Commercial/Industrial contractor and explain your situation.I'm guessin' thay will understand your dilemia.:-)
P.S.,The closest contractor I know of down there is in Savannah Ga.(Coastal Air)

Ranger, you're about right for the distance. The family is doing fine. I still kid with Linda about her purchases in Providence, having to buy (and check) a new suitcase.

Robert, oil heating around here is drying up. I personally haven't touched oil in over 16 years and really don't miss it. We have natural gas, propane in more rural areas and heat pumps.

    Mr Edwards

For a nominal transportation/mileage fee plus room and board for a couple months, I'll come down from Michigan and fix it for free!!! (grin)
