Bio-diesel

I have a customer that is going to start manking their own Bio-diesel fuel.
Part of the process requires heating glycerine to 140* and collecting the methanol that out gasses from it.
Question, how corrosive is glycerine?
We need to provide an indirect fired heater for the system and I was wondering if the tank HAD to be stainless steel?
I'll post pics as we go.

Take a look at this site...
... I'm not trying to imply that they are the end-all of Bio-Diesel production, however, they seem to offer complete kits for Diesel production. From what I can tell on their site, using plastic tanks is perfectly acceptable. In the end, it may be less expensive to buy a complete kit rather than building one from scratch, YMMV of course.

Glycerine is not very corrosive but the lye used in Biodiesel is. I had good luck with plastic tanks when producing Biodiesel. If metal, I would use Stainless steel.

Sounds like that's past tense
Why did you quit making it?0 -
How about a variation on this?

Thanks Constantin
Electricity would not be a viable option for the energy source here.
This is going to be a neat little project.
Thanks again.

Worked like a charm! Thanks for the html lesson C!0 -
I went to filtered and heated raw waste veggy oil instead of converting the oil to bio-diesel. Unfortunatly, I no longer have any diesel vehicles so I am just experimenting with running waste veggy oil in a burner that I designed.0
