I get a call to service a water heater that is leaking. Get to the house and had to move the home depot bags and boxes I found floating by the heater. Found the problem the heater will not turn off because of a bad control. this control is very important and keeps the flame for heating the water under control. This overheating causes the relif to blow water on the floor. I find a control that will fix the problem and present the cost of the repair to the cust. He calls me a thief and sayes he will fix it himself. (this is why they made 3/4 plugs). I try to beg him to fix it the right way for his own safety and it dosen't work.
Sound fimilar......rickie if you are not making your story up like I am, I feel sorry for you.....

umm if ithis is actualy legitiamte,a nd it doesnt' sound liek it it, youcna call the utility and have them lock out the gas until it is made safe.
As far as the control valve goes, if it is a new water heater then it is a warranty issue and the only cost is labor to remove and re-install (unless someone was paid to install it in which case that person has to repalce it) and to haul it back to the store for a repalcement. (yes its possible that whoever installed it broke the valve but that doesn't matter when excahanging something at home depot).0
