I just signed up for a 3-hour shift to be a bell ringer for the Salvation Army here in southeast Michigan. I've always wanted to do this since watching "The Lemon Drop Kid" where Bob Hope, William Frawley, et al dressed up as sad sack Santas to raise money for a bogus "old dame's home." Great holiday movie if you like the oldies.

And speaking of great, so is the Salvation Army. This is a nationwide program. Check it out in your area. I bet I can raise more money than you can!

    Good Cause

I can remember when I was in Trade school there was a shop teacher that was involved with the Salvation Army and he would post a sign in the cafeteria for a can food drive every year before the holidays. You could see from the best to the worst students silently bringing in canned goods. I think knowing that if someones family had no food these people would be there for them was what really pushed the drive without many words even being spoken.
