Ron jr I have a Reillo question

Ron, I'm looking at a install where I have to run the new oil line overhead(filter to ceiling 7'). On Carlins and Beckets we put a check after the filter and run a single line to the burner. Can I do the same with a Reillo or should I run the pump as a 2 pipe and just tee it back into the supply? thanks Dave

    overhead lines

Never use a check valve on a oneline system. This effectivley creates a closed piping system and can cause a pump seal to blow. Personally I would use a tigerloop and get rid of the check valve.

    Dave,

Personally, I ageree with Todd on this. The cheater loop will work, but the tiger loop is da bomb! Chris How's things?

don't you want a closed system? The tank is open to atmosphere, tank, filter, line are full.Flared fittings on it all, pump pulls check open and everyones happy,Dave

The problem is that once you close the system, there is no where for the fuel to expand to if the temperature increases. I think the reason it doesn't present more of a problem on an overhead line is that there is always some air trapped in it that will act as a cushion if there is expansion.

    different ?

have you guys used the new Beckett NX?
  • Dave , if it were me

I would do exactly like JCA suggested , use a Tigerloop at the burner . More than likely the Riello would run fine with the one overhead line , but why take the chance ? I'd also leave the check out , I don't see a need for the extra restriction if the burner is running properly .

By the way , how far of a horizontal run is there ? The vertical pull up and fall down of the oil should cancel each other out in the eyes of vacuum , the only variable is the length of the run .
