This is something
that we don't discuss here.Retired and loving it.0 -
And for good reason,
It is akin to asking which is better; a Ford or a Chevy?
There is no such thing as "average" pay anyhow. There's regional factors, experience, "prevailing wages," 16-year old kids apprenticing, small rural contractors barely staying alive and union gigs with and without bennies and so many variables as to confuse rather than enlighten.
The topic was discussed ad nauseum a few years ago with nothing but rancor and ill-will resulting and absolutely no concensus or really helpful information being exchanged.
Been there. Done that. And "Dis ain't da place" is the perfect answer!

Has nothing to do with

This is simply the wrong forum for the question.

UH Joe,...
The owner/operator of this website, Dan Holohan, just told you that we don't discuss money around here. It's just rude to continue to ask after that, so please stop, and respect the rules of "The Wall".
Also, please keep in mind that wages do vary from different areas. The pay in NYC or Chicago is quite high, due to cost of living, while little towns far away from major cities it is quite less. Also, as Ken said, pay is not the only factor, as benefits also have to be added in, or excluded if chosen. Such as, I am a union tech, but my union doesn't require any paid vacations or holidays. My boss is kind enough to take on one week vacation plus 6 holidays off paid. Benefits vary tremendously, but have to be included in the "pay" package.0 -
sorry guys this is my first time here0 -

The MOST important thing
to remember is that any discussion involving money changing hands in any form is that it can be construed as 'price-fixing'.
Respect your host and leave the dollars out. Just my two cents, ooooops!0 -
though there are publicly published rates...
for example in NYC its $143 per hour, bear in mind that in said location, just to be in business, with home base, reception, truck, insurance and 1 helper - it costs $100 per hour - that why masters dont fix toilets - coming to you house, removing old toilet, finding problem, fixing/replacing, can waste 3hrs, especially if you include parts purchase time, - as if anyone is going to pay $500 for such a repair, even though the master isnt making much if anything on it, - so people hire handymen for such jobs and when all hell breaks loose, forget about suing for damages, hes not collectable
we wetheads stick to a specialty, as the bill is more palatable to the layperson, if there is an uncommon skill involved we wont get rich, but at least we can earn an honest living
