G115 Anyone from Buderus

Is it recommended or nessisary to put in a draft damper? We are venting through the side wall with a separate air intake.

What would be the point of a draft damper if its taking air directly from the outside?

We are located in Massachusetts.

I just found on the new web site that the directions for the direct vent are listed. It says to seal the joints, so I will.

    Direct Vent

On a Buderus Direct vent (G115 Series only) the exhaust piping should be completely sealed! No damper is needed in the exhaust. All joints should be sealed with silicone and foil tape. The Buderus FT4 termination comes with a "Vacuum Relief" that is used on the fresh air intake. The following are important for proper operation of a direct vent, Intake and exhaust must be on the same wall, flue pipe should be reduced to 4inch, exhaust piping cannot exceed 10 feet (Elbows count as two feet) and exhaust piping must be sealed.

This has to be a joke on me. Really,I thought I read it completely and we install the AT-4 using all 5" exhaust piping and 4" intake which did not come with a damper for the intake. So your saying that we must reduce at the boiler breech from 5" to 4" and run 4" all the way to the term kit? All high temp siliconed AND a draft damper on the 4" intake? Does anyone know if this will pass in Massachusetts?
