Shut off Valve question

I recently replaced a tile floor (2nd floor bathroom) and found out during the radiator reinstall that I do not have enough play to reconnect it. I only need about a quarter inch. It is a recessed radiator that has an angle valve reversed so that there is a tailpiece at both connections. Ball at one, threads at the other. My questions are:

1. Does anyone know of a company that sells longer tailpieces?
2. If so, how can I remove the existing tailpiece? I see the tailpiece has a couple lips inside, but what type of tool can I use to remove it? Should I use some lubricant also?
3. or does anyone know of a company whose angle valve has a longer thread that may be able to make up my quarter inch?

I think my last alternative would be to use a Union elbow and extend it to the other radiator inlet with a straight through valve.

Any advice is welcome.
Thanks
Matt

    valve connection fixed

I thought I should post my fix to this question for others that are interested. I was able to back out the tailpiece and reattach it with less threading to gain additional height. I also purchased a new valve that had a bit more thread to work with. It was a Legend valve. I still needed to work at it to make the connection, but it worked without leaks.
