Hot water when only heating is on?

Hi There
I have a Potterton Suprima, and it has just come to my attention that while I merely have the heating on, the hot water seems to be effected too.
For example, in the mornings I have the heating and the hot water on, everyone has their morning shower for the day, there is usually no hot water left by the end of it. Later that day the heating comes on by itself for around an hour. After this period of time there is fresh hot water in the tank.
Is there something wired incorrectly? Or is this normal? It puzzles me!
