Check out this near boiler piping

First, many thanks to the forum, tonight I received "We've got steam heat", which I've devoured, now into Lost Art. We're restoring an older home with a newer WM LGB boiler. The system was designed by Hoffman back in the day, there is a main vent (new) at the end of the return and a new F&T connecting the supply and return at the end of the main. There is condensate receiver and pump. Some thoughts:

(1) the vent on the receiver should be higher, right?
(2) I am somewhat confused by the equalizer - is this supposed to be at the end of the main or in the boiler room? As you can see from the pics, I have two 4" risers going into the 4"header, there is no drip leg (right?).

Please comment, I've had some knuckleheads out and am searching for a competent person, and want to be informed.

THANKS

Brian

    my thoughts are (is)

enlighten me as to why on earth does a house need a boiler feed or condensate tank/pump....whenever i see a feed pump i want to know if the original system had one...if not someone's treating a symptom but not the problem...

    Equalizer?

    I didn't see one.

The supplies on the LGB come off the rear portion of the end sections and the return taps are in the front.

I see what look like two risers coming of the rear of the boiler and NO equalizer.

Is that a "boiler feed tank" controlled by the LWCO, or is it a "condensate pump" that is controlled by a float in the receiver?

Has anyone sized the connected load of EDR in the house?

While I have been in homes where an LGB-4 or 5 are necessary, they have been few.

I also have concerns about the rusting I see on the top of the boiler toward the rear of the boiler where the collector hood and draft hood meet.

And just so this post finishes on a positive note, the insulator did a nice job.
