RoosterBoy Member Posts: 459
hi guys is this normal I just ran my new buderus for the first time today and it is hooked to my air handler

my call for heat is 70

the boiler turns on and heat's the water to 180 and then turns off.

then to rise my house from 70 to 72 the boiler needs to turn on again to keep the water up to 180 on the air handler

is my air handler sound to small for my boiler to cycle 2 times in one heating cycle

thanks

    Boiler size

What is the Btu load for the house? What is the rating on the coil? What size boiler?
    Thanks,

hi joe my tech was talking with you today we had to put a relay on my air hanlder i have the g115 model 28 lt160 r2109 and my heatload is right now about 60,000 to 70,000 btu and should come down to just under 53,000 when i put in new windows and insulation i have a 2 ton air handler
    and i think i now need a 3 ton

the boiler cycles 2 times per heating cycle heating is set
at 72 calls for heat at 71 brings water up to 180 shuts off boiler at 72 and then 3 min later it comes back on for 3 minutes and shuts down boiler at 73

and this is on a 35deg night

also I am using a power Venter the tech dose not want to make my new boiler efficient because he feels it will change he wants to leave it open full and then fine tune it in a week is that ok? no smoke test no co test and draft check nothing run as is for a week

    thanks

I may have to be stuck with my 2 ton and cut my duct down on the other side of the house and add baseboard heat because I am not getting the cfm I need to heat my house
and id hate to have my contractor eat the cost of putting in a new air handler

so I will have to have him put in baseboard because I cant heat my house with this airhandler. this sucks because I spent so much money on this buderus and lt hotwater tank and I cant heat my house with it I need to spend more now on baseboards

my forced oil furnace was a 85,000btu and heated both ends of the house no problem what do you all think I should do

    Boiler size

If I may I would like to take some exception to the comment about the money you spent on the Buderus Boiler. I know it's fustrating but I don't think the boiler is at fault. The G115/28 has an output of 98,000 Btu's and based on your description the Buderus Boiler is producing the Btu's but the Btu's are just not being pulled out of the boiler. I think the issue may be with the Btu delivery system (piping, circulator, flow restriction, etc...). I would suggest the following. First - have the burner set up! A combustion efficiency test should be done within a day or two after start up to insure maximum burner efficiency. Two - check the head loss through the coil and piping system and check that the circulator can overcome that pressure. Three - Check the controls that the circulators are connected to insure they are running the circulator till the call is satisfied.

HI Joe thanks I talk to my HVAC contractor and I am going to have him install new ductwork because what I have is to big for my house.

I am also going to add baseboard to the other half of my house.

right now I have ductwork for the whole house and the air handler sits in the middle of the basement and ductwork branches off from there in a split from the supply and
wraps around both side's of my house and on top of that it has 3 big flex duct that branches off to feed the 24x24 side

so I am taking that all down and he will add one duct trunk right down the center of my house beside the return
and branch off 5 registers with one trunk.

and the 24x24 will get new slantfin 80 baseboards

do you all think this will work better
    thanks

    Duct size

I would refer your question to the "scorched air" pro's on this site. I,m a water guy!

I remember reading here many times that the returns are important too!

    Thanks,
