i just completed a heating load calc for a customer with some new software. the weather info was based on the ashrae calcs in the program. should i size the boiler based on the heat load or add 10-20% as a safety factor. i think the ashrae data is based on the average weather 97.5% of the time in the heating season in an average winter. i'm concerned about those times we have cold snap for a week or so.

design conditions
if u stick to design loads. your system will carry you thru those cold snaps.
but use design loads. not the average weather for 97.5% of the year...
my .02 worth.
